Monopod helped to keep camera steady

Wow Linda, maybe you should try something less dangerous than photography, like skydiving or hang-gliding. :)
Glad to hear you're okay.
Get a few of those instant heat packs to keep in your truck. Better yet, stay off the ice, or at least out of the freezing water. :)

Linda I am so glad you are okay. Thank goodness you were able to pull yourself out.

It's morning.... woke up after 6 hours of snooze recovery time. Funny how falling through ice and shivering for hours will make you tired. Normally only sleep 4-5 hours max. Good news is I shivered away an entire 1. pounds! lol Have now lost 7 pounds since the 1st of the year.

Glad you're OK... can't say I've ever had anything even close to that happen to me, but then again in SC we get excited if we can photograph snow. Frozen lakes/rivers/ponds NEVER happen here! |

Don't you know you were supposed to find some local stud, strip him to his skivvies, and then hop in a sleeping bag with him?
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do in the name of medicine... |

the local stud allowed me to use his clothes dryer, but didn't come home from work to warm me up :-(
Guess the fact that I'm sorta married might be a deterrent, even if it's just sorta.

good story... always keep extra cloths food and someway to start a fire(a couple of pieces of wood helps). It is a good idea to change out those crackers in your camera pack once in a while. You shoulda seen me spitting them out when I was stranded just after I took my last challenge entry. I keep a good sleeping bag with me. Down is history, they make a poly stuff that works just as well and is just as light AND it works when its wet. Down is useless wet.
glad your ok.. where are the shots from when you were in the water? ;) |

I could not possibly take shots of myself in the water and keep the camera held up high in a safe manner. Well, I probably could have, but the water was really cold and I just wanted to get out. I did get the shot of the hole afterwards though.
