Hello,
I have been looking at the following JVC Hard Disk Camcorder.
There are two that I have been looking at...both JVC. The price is $100 difference. The lower priced one has:
1.2 megapixel CCD and an F 1.2 lens.
The higher priced one is exactly the same except has:
2.2megapixel CCD but only an F 1.8 lens.
Any suggestions?

Have you seen reviews for these camcorders? I'm in the market for a new one as well. Not sure what direction I'm headed. I read that the hard disk and even the DVD models do not have great picture quality due to the compression used (MPEG-2 I believe).
I would like to see other reviews though. |

I sell the jvc evario (hard drive cam) at best buy. The differnce between the 2 models that is substantial is the storage capacity. (20g vs 30g) The difference in the ccd chip shouldnt be a huge factor unless you will be playing back on an HDTV or a plasma. On a tube television you wont notice the difference. The only thing i dont like about these cams is that they don't utalize firewire. So if you want to transfer to the computer (to edit or burn dvd's etc) it is through usb, which means you are degrading from digital down to analog. There is also no viewfinder so you have to rely 100% on the flip screen (which can be a pain in direct sunlight)

Thanks for your replys. I've seen reviews on both cams and it seems the picture quality is not what I want. I will look in to another Mini DV. I have a Sony. It is about 5 years old and starting to bug out on me.

I've used Panasonic MiniDV cams for some time now and would definitely recommend them. You can buy a 3CCD Panasonic camera for pretty cheap now. This is a great camera for the price, for example. |
