For the third time, I don't believe DPChallenge has ever claimed to be a site for children.
Do you have a point with this thread? You seem to just be jumping from topic to topic in an attempt to push people's buttons.

I'm not jumping around...every time someone else mentions something, I just expand upon their topic change.

He's heard the word before, and understands its meaning as an explitive/interjection as distinct from the act or end-product of digestion, for which he also knows several other words and euphemisms. He scores well above grade level in most verbal skills-testing.
However, he's not read this thread -- he's actually had too much homework to hang around DPC since kindergarten. |

I don't know, maybe the site no longer interests me...maybe I still have some hostility from being unrightly banned. Whatever though...I don't even get any happiness from challenges, I don't like to vote, I don't like to comment anymore...
Maybe I should just move on. Maybe I was just trying to go out with a bang...I think my mind isn't as easily stimulated by the goings on of this place any longer, so I exagurate problems a bit.
Oh well, I don't know.

uhmmm,
having a very nice glass of red wine right now (that's allowed, isn't it?)
just wanted to toast the SC. I think that the majority of people on this site are very appreciative of the work they do. I haven't read this whole forum (there was a nice evening in front of me with family), but I know that I am very thankful for the lot of them. I got the sense that some are not ... that isn't necessarily the majority.
so... cheers! |

I must have missed a couple of possts. Can you point out to me where someone brought up the issue of children on the site or of nude photos before you did?

Suggestion.. not trying to be cute or flaming, just a suggestion.
Copy this post and save it out to your hard drive. Read it again in about 10 years.
I've done that in the past, and can't believe how my opinions have changed in that amount of time. |

I can't agree with this. I think they should be at least 35 years old. You can't run for president of the US until you are 35, and do the SC have any less responsibility than the president?? I think NOT.
These young pipsqueeks we have here now just don't have the wisdom to make these life and death decisions. I doubt any of them do enough to earn their $25 a year membership.
Sheesh! Get a rope!

Actually, I was just rehashing a phrase I found particularly funny from another user from one of the last times you went off the handle.
Dave, of course you know I've met you in person, and I know you're a decent guy. God help me I've even tried to defend you to SC members, having met you on a couple occasions, and knowing that you're not nearly the same individual as the persona you've adopted here.
I honestly don't know what gives with you. I consider you to be a friend, but I certainly can't understand your constant desire to piss people off around here. You're perfectly capable of being a valuable asset to the community here -- I've seen that side of you plenty of times. And you're a helluva photographer.
I am at a loss to figure out what you think you have to gain by starting threads like this one.

well, I guess I flew off the handle...if I'm still around and not suspended or kicked out I'll knock it off.
I didn't mean anything personal to you Alan...I didn't think I was taking a stab at you with that quote, really. Just trying to make a point ... what the point was, I have NO idea.

i dont know what you consider kids, but at 16, most people have seen that. if you feel your children shouldnt be looking at that, or theyre too young to view such offensive material including curse words, then perhaps you should monitor your childs websurfing activity. In my experiences, at young ages, as young as around 3rd grade, many kids curse between them and their friends, however not in front of their parents. its not like these kids havent seen these words before.

I didn't suspect that you meant any particular comment against me personally... but I am 1/16th of Site Council, and after a while I can't help but start to get offended a bit...

I think SC should have a minimum age requirement of 99.

I'm probably going to regret this, but the original poster really does have a point here. I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of the various points, but I'd like to help swing the balance back a little. The SC do a great job on the whole, and they work hard for little reward. But sometimes they don't carry themselves well on the forums and the power can appear to go to their heads. I agree that DPChallenge should be much more democratic, and it's this fundamental disagreement of direction which fuels a lot of these conflicts. I know that many DPChallengers agree with this... many of them don't speak up on threads like this because they don't want to rock the boat or find themselves at the receiving end of ridicule such as that found in this thread. I find many of the forum threads here like a schoolground popularity contest, and it is not cool here to ever voice dissent. Well folks, it is healthy to want to change things for the better, and I hope that people carry on finding the courage to speak up when they feel things could be better in certain areas. When I've started similar threads, I've received many PMs supporting me but people really are afraid to find themselves flamed because they dare to suggest that something could change. If people don't like what the original poster has said, either come up with a reasonable measured response or leave him to it.
