Why did my post, quoting someone elses post get edited out? I have posted things on MANY occasions and had it quoted, deleted it, and it has stuck...THAT IS EXACTLY THE THING THAT NEEDS STOPPED THE MOST

EITHER MAKE IT UNIVERSAL, AND DO IT FOR EVERY SINGLE POST LIKE THAT OR DONT DO IT AT ALL

I deleted the post that you reported, and the quote of that post in your reply. I do the same thing every time I delete any post that is quoted in replies.

Your reply itself was left intact.

I reported the post where I was called Paul? the third post in this thread? Under what grounds did I report that post?

You don't have to break any specific rules to be suspended. Expressing your opinions and disagreeing with others (including Site Council members) is fine, but routinely disrupting the forums with flagrantly combative posts and wild, unsubstantiated accusations can (and did) earn you an involuntary vacation. Claiming that such posts are just a joke or trying to rationalize away rude behavior won't help you either. Per the terms of use:

12.1 At any time and with or without cause, DPChallenge.com may immediately terminate this Agreement or any or all of rights and privileges granted to you or any of the other Registered Users hereunder, and DPChallenge.com may also suspend your use of the Website or refuse to provide you access to the Website or the services provided thereby.

Also, note that such suspensions are imposed by D&L, not the SC. This is a site open to everyone, including children, and tainting the experience with bad behavior doesn't generally sit well with the owners. Like it or not, you have to play nice with everyone or you won't be allowed to play at all.

oh heh...why did it get deleted? Anyone can report any post they want, but I don't understand what in that post violated the terms of service in any way??? Why did the site council deem that post innapropriate for such an 'abrasive' thread? It didn't seem so at the time, but it was only a matter of time before it headed that direction, obviously.

My apologies. It was not you that reported it. The post (the one I deleted, not yours) was reported as a personal attack and was removed. Since you had quoted it in your reply, I deleted it from there as well.

The content of your reply was not in question, nor was the fact that you quoted it. The only reason I edited your post was to remove the offending post (the one to which you had replied) from the thread.

But swearing is ok, even though it's a site for children?

Michael Jackson was big on MTV in 1984. Don't think he was in the Real World though.

Hmm, coming soon to MTV, Real World Neverland...

Wouldn't that belong to the other franchise, Survivor: Neverland?

The post was a personal attack.

I may not like you personally, but you have the same rights and responsibilities as any other user of the site.

I don't mind getting attacked. If I did, I would have reported it. heck, if I reported a post every time I felt attacked or like someone was sarcastically taking a stab at me, I'd have reported about a thousand so far, and for a justified reason.

But seriously though, how can ranting a raving a little bit merit a suspension in THREADS THAT ARE ALREADY HEADING DOWNHILL...but swearing is acceptable? If your excuse is that it merits a suspension because children frequent the site then I don't understand how swearing is allowed...or heck, nudity...it is OBVIOUSLY not a child-oriented site.

Those of us with kids on the site take full responsibility for explaining to them about what typing "bad words" in a public forum says about the writer.

Can't the site be held responsible for showing nude images to children under the age of 18 in the US? As far as I know, that could be considered corrupting the morals of a minro...art or not...since we're getting technical.

What do 'bad words' say about the writer?

Well, I only expected to have to explain that to an eight-year old.

Unless that's your actual level of emotional development, it will take me some time to formulate a response suitable for someone older (you did mean older, right?). And since I have to leave about 15 minutes ago to pick up said eight-year old, I may even have to defer an explanation until tomorrow, assuming you still require or desire one by then.

As I said, I don't believe DPChallenge has ever claimed to be a site for children.

I'm not a lawyer, and therefore not qualified to offer an opinion on your question above. That said, I remember going on quite a few art museum field trips while I was in elementary and secondary school, and seeing nude works of art while we were on them. I went to a public school.

Just curious what you told your kids about your fellow site council members or how you feel about them...

If you ranted and raved "a little bit" you would not have made it onto our radar screen. It's your excessive repeated ranting and raving, to the point of disrupting the site, that warranted your suspension.

good luck explaining to a judge how this is art or suiteable for a child:

01/09/2006 09:40:18 PM · #123
In order for a child to have an account, the parents must submit a written waiver to DPC taking full responsibility for their child's use and experience of the site.

It's not a problem, especially since the account can be set to block images flagged for nudity, and none of the nudity we allow is pornographic anyway.

It is not illegal to take children to an art museum and see all manner of artistic nudes, nor is it illegal to allow them to view any images displayed here, as long as those images don't violate the site TOS.

Again...any time I've 'ranted and raved', it has been on a thread either A) in the RANT section B) spiraling rapidly downhill from anything that remotely constitutes a 'disruptable' discussion C) a thread that I MYSELF created or D) provoked and prolonged by many members, including those of the site council.

ALL of those points are up to someone's PERSONAL interpretation...just because 20 site council members find a photograph 'artistic' does NOT mean that a judge will think so.
