Is it ok to sit my external HD on top of my moderm? At present I'm attaching and detaching everytime I want to use it.....a real pain!

Have a distinct lack of space.....monitor on kitchen table, moderm underneath on floor, printer on table......eat food on lap while editing!

Told you it was a dumb question, but haven't sat anything on the moderm....thought it needed space to breathe :))

Don't cover air vents and you should be fine. If the modem has air vents on top it should be possible to build a small support to hold the harddrive an inch or so above it.

I think your harddrive needs more space to breath then a modem, hard drives have moving parts that spin super fast, Unless you have some werid modem I don't think it should be a problem, but set them up and let it all run for a couple hours and take a feel if its HOT its not working. Tape your modem to the side of your computer is another idea (just tape in the right spot)
