I got my laptop, set up the router, got the internet to work with no problem. Now, I'm trying to let the computers communicate, so I can print to my PC's printer from the lappy, and share files, etc. So, I ran the wireless network utility for Windows XP, did everything it said to do, and it said it was all successful. In fact, from my PC, I can see all the shared folders on my laptop, and map a network drive to them, no problem. But, when I try to access the network from the laptop, it says: "You might not have permission to access this network resource." and "Windows cannot find the network path."

What gives? Anyone seen this before?

I just wipped my wifes computer and installed a valid (OEM) copy of XP on it, and believe it or not, the sharing worked PERFECTLY for the first time in the history of XP usage in this solar system. I was able to see my computer and files and able to see hers without banging my head against the wall.

I've seen your exact problem before... Hmmm, the first thing to check is that your laptop is using the same "workgroup" name as the others. Then, I believe that you should create a user on your laptop with the same name as on your other PCs. Doing this makes things a lot easier because your PC can authenticate the laptop easier. Make sure your Share for C: on the PC is allowing your laptop user access.

Good luck, this can be frustrating. :)

Do you have any folders setup to be shared on the pc? I have setup many home networks, and set mine up multiple times, and I still can't get it right the first time. I just mess with it for a while and it works.

I know it isn't a workgroup issue, since the PC can connect to my laptop with no problem, and map to all the shared folders. I've shared folders on the PC, and I actually just used the Windows network utility program thing to set it all up, so I assumed it would work fine. But it doesn't.
