My friend wants me to do pictures of his band. Promo type shots. Outdoors in a field with mountains in the background. Can anyone give me some pointers? Thanks. |

How would you pose 'em and stuff like that. Do I use instruments? Any kind of tips would help. |

Only problem is, most of those threads deal with shooting indoor gigs and a lot of the information would be irrelavent in this case.

Mine was very difficult. The drummer is a rather large sized guy. SO I had to minimize him visually so he wouldn't dominate the group shot.
What kind of music do they play?

The best way to describe their music is surfer punk rock n roll. Kind of like Pepper and Slightly Stoopid.

You could always shoot them near red rock. Out side with strobes so they are exposed properly but the back ground goes a stop darker in the middle of the day. The possibilites are endless.

My daughter and her fiancée are in a band called Random Selection. We did an outdoor shoot a few months back. These aren't out in the field and don't have mountains for a backdrop. But I thought the "edgy feel to them" might give you some ideas:

Very nice. I like the use of the instruments. |
