I have been waiting for a SUNNY Sunday morning for 3 weeks now !
So today was the day . But I had a brain freeze, and forgot to check the ISO on the camera ,I did everything else ,clean the lense, used the lens hood formated all my cards etc . The light down at my favroite bird spot is only real good for about 1 hour so I need to be punished for such a silly mistake ,so please have fun with it ! I deserve it!
a sample of what I missed this morning

Is this supposed to be a bad shot? It looks fine to me.

The bird's eyes look like dark hollowed out black holes. Is that it's natural color? If not, you could bring out the true color by using a little diffused fill flash adjusting for a negative FEC if you are really close to the bird. It would also reduce any noise and help with sharpness.

It is way to noisy for the light that I had to shoot in this morning all the detail is washed out in most of my images from this mornings shoot. I am just sick about the whole deal. I really do know better than that!
Maybe somebody should beat me with a wet noodle or something . Sometimes I am such a bone head !!!!! But I am LMAO I don't think I will do that again ! LOL

I really suck at photoshop so none of that is going to happen LOL! With the light I had this morning I should not have do any photoshop work other than a few minor adjustments:)

Good shot...

I suppose you had the camera in one hand and the bird in the other?

That would explain the softness to the bird yet his tail feathers are sharply focused..you were probably at the limit for close focusing distance for your lens and the tail was just at the edge.

I agree with this idea... in addition to pulling out color it will also place catchlights in the eyes. That will look nice even if there is plenty of light without flash.

If it makes you feel any better, I went to Africa about a year ago and had just gotten my new camera, didn't really know how to use it yet and took pictures on ISO 1600 the whole time. Can't really go back there any time soon. :)

No Saiphfire That don't make me feel any better , But I do feel for you .
What I did this morning was just plain silly and there is no excuse for it. I just got all caught up with the great light that was there ,the sun was making the snow glitter it was perfect !!Also I was shooting with my sunglasses on and when I do that I can't see the settings in the bottom of viewfinder very well and that I also know that I should NOT do ,but I did anyway . Oh well live and learn .LOL

Welll. . . . then we all need to get beat with a wet noodle, because I bet there's scarcely a person who hasn't done that before. Or had that once-in-a-lifetime shot and forgot to check the exposure meter. . .or something. It really is an awesome photo!

It's still a beautiful capture, IMHO.
Which ISO would have made it better?
