Shutterstock warning? - DPChallenge Forums

Has anyone else had one?

I got one a few weeks back when I submitted a bunch of photos that they said where too hazy.

Anyway just wondering if anyone else has had one before and what happened after you got it? I am not sure if I will get one for any photo I submitt now that they don't like or if its only in extreme cases that you get one.

I try very hard on that site to put only my best photos up, so to get a warning is a killer. Especially when I am so close to getting my first payment from them. (I am at $65)

maybe thats their scam --

they wait until you're almost at a payment, and then say 'nope'

Well I havent said anything bad about them yet lol I just want to protect myself so I can enjoy there site more. Its a good way to make some cash and I don't want to loose it. I just want to learn more about how to stay on their good site lol

2 checks and a 3 probably in the next month. I'm assuming that they have lot's of photos and are more strict. Also more reviewers now to keep up with the uploaders, so just like the poeple that give "1's" on ribbon winners, everybody has their own opinion.

Maybe we can see samples to help you with any problems?

Not too sure Loz, but I think it's something like 5 warnings and you have to redo the admittance submissions proceedure. Do a forum search over there as there have been a ton of posts from people who've had warnings.....and a lot of them aren't newbies.

I submitted a batch of images to Shutterstock that I use at 123RoyaltyFree, Dreamstime, iStock, Fotolia and other places and all were rejected and they (Shutterstock) suspended my account. Their reasoning, images were: to sharp, not sharp enough, shallow DOF, and "blurry".

So, I removed all my images and am spending my time at the other sites...

Pretty sure they are being picky because they have so many images and they were known to be the most lax. So they are probably cracking down.

faidoi, I know why they rejected the images, so I won't post them. The quality wasn't right. I guess I am worried that if I thought they were good images, how can I judge future ones.

My main problem was that I cropped them a lot. They were mainly zoo photos, and I wanted to frame them better. But the more you crop, the more haze you really get when you want to increase the image to X size. That was my problem.

I just hope that for every bad image that I do not get a warning. Thats really what I am concerned about.

The link is in my sig. But those images are fine.

I guess the fact that they are bigger now is why they do it. I think they originally approved anything. I have images that have sold alright there that other sites wouldn't touch.

Same here. My top SS image wtith 126 downloads is not anywhere else.

Wow 126 is fantastic. My top is only 62.

Its sold only 13, but at the end of the day its a blurry photo. I think I was lucky to get it through :)
