It's for hiding stuff that you don't want other people to see. We can't see what's in your workshop folder unless you link directly to a photo there.

If someone says - "hey, can you look at this photo and fix it up for me" you can put it in the workshop folder so that you can post your results without it showing up as your photo in your portfolio.
It's just storage for things outside your portfolio basically. |
