Newbie question... when voting on the entries in a challenge, what is generally considered better form?
1. To vote on as many entries in a challenge as possible, even if it means not leaving many comments.
2. Try to leave comments on all/most of the entries you vote on, even if it means voting on less entries overall.
Or are both approaches considered equally good contributions?

Regards

Tim

I'd say that's a preference. People value comments greatly, so I'd say leaving good comments is a valuable public service. I personally feel guilty if I start voting a challenge and don't finish. I hate seeing pics in the top 10 that I never even got to vote on.

Also keep in mind that if you don't vote on at least 20% of entries, your votes don't count in the final tabulation.

My personal preference:

Please only leave comments if you have something constructive to say.

Saying "I like this!" Is not constructive to most people either. Don't tell me just that you like it, tell me why.

This will also challenge yourself to discover why you like the photo's that you do.

I have dial-up, and it took me three days to get thru all the Shapes entries, but finally did! I also feel guilty if I don't finish voting.
I'm going to try to start voting on the Challenges I haven't entered, also...just takes such a loooooooong time. :) Newbie here too.
I prefer to leave positive comments and not bum somebody's day. But I really appreciate feedback from others if they aren't overly mean about it. Paddles, some people WANT comments on their photos that you rate 1,2 or 3.

(Wavelength, I may have been guilty of that, on some of my 9 and 10 votes...will think harder. :)

I generally vote on all the images first, then if I have time I comment. However I dont comment that much (my bad) because I just dont have the time.

So I would say - vote, then if you have time comment. Others do it the other way round, its just a personal choice.

Oh, and welcome to DPC, its a wonderful place with some very talented people.
