seems a little high for me.....I was expecting it to be a little cheaper. I might still be able to swing it...but am thinking about the 24 inch model..
Any thoughts? I would still love to have the 30...but would love to have the ability to rotate the screen like on the 24. Anybody using one?
Any inside info on the 30? |

I rather run dual Dell 2005FPWs (20.5") and save the extra $ for more camera goodies.
edit for typos.

I have the 24in and its amazing, i think that 30in would be too big you would have to sit to far away from it to view it properly. |

My advice, buy "three" 20" Dell's and a video card that can run three monitors.

soooooooooo I've been thinking for a while now how nice a flatscreen would look on my desk, and my monitor is a few years old.... but its 21" so hard to replace.... and then I heard about Dell's 30 and thought "hmmmmmmm maybe ;D ".
then today, I walk into my office, wake puter from sleep and what do I see? A dozen green almost horizontal lines crossing my screen. Monitor is going going going.... so again I think "hmmmm that 30" Dell?? Maybe :D "
Then I see this post!! CHIT! That's hundreds more than I expected from them compared to the cost of their smaller ones! :(

pulled the trigger....bought the 30 tonight...along with the xps dualcore and 7800 graphics card.
18 months free interest and lots of discounts. With pkg discounts..it brought the monitor down to about 1800.....i also got a free 17inch ultrabright monitor with the pkg. I will use it for this computer and give my daughter the one I am using.
Momma is probably gonna kill me....but I should be able to write it off for bidness. |

Not to upset the apple cart before it ships, but hopefully, you took advantage of many Dell discounts (see XPBargains). Dell is notorious for giving things away with stackable coupons on top of sales. I didn't look to see what's current, but you can watch while you are waiting, and you can always cancel and rebuy if they haven't shipped.

OK, I saved a mint. The 21" 4 year old trinitron still looked like hell this morning. Lost all contrast and almost parallel green lines crossing all over.
I went to Best Buy... found a guy there who plays the same MMORPGs as me and though he didn't "get" the photography thing, totally understood monitors and was a great one for questions/answers tech-wise.
Anyway, ended up with the 19" LG and it looks amazing. Really didn't realize how much I was missing. The crt one must have been dying slowly over time because this looks soooooooooooooo much better.
Best Buy 19" LG LCD - $469 with $50 mail-in rebate.

Yes I did take advantage of the deals and coupons. I also asked for even more discount and he gave me another 10% off and also another what he called Managers special 150 dollars off. I also got a free 17inch ultrasharp monitor thrown in. Dont worry about me paying too much....my wife can leave a thumbprint on a penny.......and I research stuff to death before I buy. Got 3year warranty on all of it too. The only thing I had to cut back on to be able to do the deal right then was the ram.
I had them putting in 2gb and had to settle for 1gb. This was only because of the credit limit on my account. When I opened it last year I never thought I would need more than 4000..but with the extra ram...the whole pkg came in just over. So I will buy the ram separate and put it in myself. Not a big deal...but if I had not done the deal then....I would have missed out on several discounts in the deal. Free shipping...18months free interest.
I will say this: I think if you are going to buy something from
Dell...call like I did close to their quitting time...11pm central I think. I felt as though i got extra discounts just so he could go home on time. Just a thought.
Also....momma didnt blow a gasket too bad...she just sprung a small leak!!!!!!!!!
Anyway...I am off to shoot 2 more senior portraits today. That will make 11 this year..and I only started in October.
Thanks for all the help I get here...you guys are great. |
