I'm fed up with MS. When my Win system dies I'll go Apple or Linux.
Patch after patch after service pack. Patches that kill hardware compatability, slowing the machines down, conflicting with other software. Days and days of recovering systems, sleepless nights of problems that are not my fault (because I manage three other systems for other people)....
F*** 'em. They should provide the next win version for free and even then I'm not going to get it.
And MSN is the gateway to hell.

If you are on a current Windows machine and have downloading for critical updates turned on then you will probably already have this patch automatically installed.

| Patched all my machines at home and 50 machines on my network at work. I'm tired of MS too these days and have considered a Mac. I just hate the thoughts of purchasing all that software (PS, PSP, Adobe, etc) .. it's gonna get expensive! |

I always have to laugh at the trouble some have with MS operating systems. Seems like some people just have bad electrons running through their fingers to the keyboard. LOL
I have used MS since the mid 80's and have never had the extensive problems that others seem to experience. Maybe it is just luck but I think not. I have had dozens of different machines, stand-alone and networked and all types of peripheral devices. I keep antivirus software running and up to date and set to auto, I allow MS to auto load updates, I keep my software updated and I stay online 24 / 7 and seldom turn my system off. I experience much better compatibility using MS products than I do with others. Mostly I do not let âtechâ people touch my system, at home or at work (well, what used to be work).
Now that is not to say that I have not on occasion had issues but I also have many friends who are MAC people who experience problems on a regular basis. The issues are always resolved with a little detective work.
And I'm also one of those guys whose friends call when their system goes haywire to fix it. I normally find it is because they have conflicts in multiple programs that they did not even know they had running in the background, they click on to many "download me" stuff or they are just lost technology wise.
But like I said, maybe I have just been lucky for this past 25 years.
edit: Oh yeah. I do agree on MSN. It is almost as bad as AOL. I'm much happier without these type prepackaged internet.
