For the past few months I have been having trouble with one of my laptops, something I had never seen before. There is something either lose or not connecting right in the power socket which then results in intermittent power and sometimes leaves only on battery power no matter what I do. Not only is this incredibly annoying but I am afraid that it will just stop working altogether and I am gonna lose everything. Has anyone had this problem before? In case you are wondering, this computer is an Averatec laptop that I bought cause it was small enough to carry while travelling......DON'T BUY AVERATEC!

I would definitely get it looked at. Power problems can be scary if you happen to be working on a file when it fails.

I've seen all makes of laptops develop problems! Was it under warranty? Have you asked the company how much it will cost to fix?

It is under warranty but since i am overseas and the computer was bought in an american store on base, I have to ship it to the US and they can't ship it back to me because they don't ship to PO Boxes.

I had the same problem with my Toshiba, it was still under extended warranty so I shipped it back for repair.

It happens, sometimes the contacts get worn or corroded. Someone inserts the plug at wrong angle and it catches. Etc.

I wouldn't feel good about continuing to use a piece of equipment I didn't trust with any important files. Back up often!

Averatecs are small & aerodynamic. I'll bet you could get a few good skips out of it if you frisbee'd it into the lake. ;-)

It happened with my Toshiba in November. I had to buy a new power adaptor, it has been fine since.
