Seeing this weeks open challenge topics made me think....I reckon it would be really cool if for any repeat challenges (eg recipes II, backlighting II) there was a 4th ribbon and/or honorable mentions up for grabs for the person with the most improved score in comparison with the previous challenge. For example, anyone who entered backlighting I and backlighting II would be eligible, and the best improved score would get a ribbon/honorable mention of some description.
anyone thoughts on this?

Cool idea, but might be a touch cumbersome. They'd have to have a means of relating challenges. Then searching for past users. Then tally the scores of all past users. Subtract the first from the new. Then see who has the highest difference.
All do-able. But not necessarily "feasible"... (worth the time). It is a cool idea. I'd love to see it. But just don't think it too likely at this time. |

Might be workable at the person level if it was the average of the first couple of challenges vs. the last couple each year. Then say first 10 with the largest positive difference could get a most improved ribon. Might need a minimum of entries rather than using first/last image of each year.
(hit button too soon) - The more I think about this the better it sounds because it would give something to the people most likely in the lower/middle that are working to improve. It's unlikely somebody already scoring highly would get a large enough gap to get one.

hmm didnt really think about the programming logistics... I don't really know what's easy and what's hard. The thought came to be cause I decided I was definitely gonna try and enter backlighting II so I can see how much i can improve from last time.
