Out of work and lazing around since July 09, after working for 40 years in Telecommuncations, it's been a very strange experience. Will have to look for something when I come back from holiday, I am so bored!

Now I'm going back to school for photography and I'm going

People occasionally ask me what I do, and before I can finish my sentence, they've lost interest. Same with questions like "how's your job" or "how was work today." For fun, with my family anyway, I would go into painful detail:

Well, I got a call today from our business contact wanting to know why the help desk SOP didn't include instructions for a spcific e-mail scenario. Well I spent some time investigating this and discovered that one of the recent changes we made to the alert handling inadvertently introduce a new error type, such that bla bla bla, bla bla bla bla...

 They don't ask anymore.

It was easier when I was a radio announcer. Stories about crazy phone calls and on-air snafus are real crowdpleasers. It wasn't worth the money I wasn't making though...

I did 5 years at a McDonald's once... I was released for good behavior.

I also credit it with career advancement afterwards.. I wouldnt be a teacher now if I didnt work at McD's then.

Well, I'm retired but I used to be a chef. Pawdrix is a chef, though I think he's teaching now. JulietNN has cordon bleu training, not sure if she ever worked as a chef. BAMartin is a chef. Timfythetoo used to be one.

These off the top of my head, I am sure I'm missing some.

Where ya at, Marco? How do I come eat with you? You're welcome at our table on Cape Cod if you ever get near there :-)

Yes I was a Cordon Bleu Chef, 5 years training 2 in France, qualified, I went out into the world ready to rock everyones socks and BAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMM. Whilst I was locked away studying and learning, the world changed to (**&^&&%^$&*&((* 1 carrot, sliver of fish and a cucumber on its plate and called that FOOD.

I was out of a job before I even started. And being stubborn, refused to change my ways.

Anyways, other main job in life was a PI in a specialized area. But I got burnt out, well not sure burnt out is the right word, I lost my nerve I suppose you could call it. |
