Hey Everyone-
We *may* be in the market for a new camcorder. My head is spinning reading about them all. I was hoping maybe you guys had some advice. We THOUGHT we wanted one that takes the little mini-DVD's but now I am not so sure. Reviews seem mixed about them...poor pictures and low recording times per DVD concern me.
We HAVE a decent camcorder that takes the High-8mm tapes. It is a pretty good one too. However, we are not sure if the charger is bad on the camcorder or if we just have bad batteries. We ordered a brand new battery on ebay, charged it (so we thought), and it still does not work. So-I have no clue if it we got a bad deal or if our camcorder is jacked up. (The seller had great ratings) That said, the camcorder works perfectly as long as it is plugged in. Solving this problem is the biggest reason we are eyeing a new one. The DVD's really appealed to me because of the ability to easily burn them to full size DVD's and make copies. I HATE having to hook up the camcorder to the TV just to watch the movies. I also like how small camcorders are nowdays.
So, if anyone is knowledgeable, I would greatly appreciate any advice! Also, if you love your camcorder, link me ;o) What we would be looking for in a new one is a good optical zoom and a good picture. We really don't need a lot of fancy features. Our current one has lots of fancy stuff but we never use any of them. It is just for good 'ol family home videos.
Thanks :)
Jenn
