News just reported that 12 of the 13 miners in West Virginia have been found alive. My heart goes out to the family of the 13th man whose body was found earlier.

I saw that - that's WONDERFUL!

Very sad for the 13th guy - but they expected to find 0 alive so this is very very good.

thats a miracle.

i was watching the news earlier and they more or less said were not going to find them alive (i'm in a mining town here and thats pretty much what they say after about 12 hours).

amazing!

Well, they kept saying that it would take a miracle to find any of them alive and the miracle happened when they weren't found where they were supposed to be...

Fantastic news... I saw the news earlier this evening and it certainly did not sound all that promising. I guess miracles do happen, and having grown up in a mining town I was particularly touched by this story, and prayed for a happy outcome. The ending is not perfect, but at the very least 12 individuals will be going back to their families.

Thank God indeed.

I've been following this story on the local news service. What great news. We had some miners trapped here in Australia a few days back too and they were rescued. It's sad that they lost one miner though!

That's fantastic news. Both my husband and work partner are underground miners....we count our blessings every day that they come home.

TooCool...I just saw this on TV...This is horrible horrible news after what appeared to be such great news.
It upsets me that numerous sources confirmed 12 live people, and then to not have them alive...Very sad.

Evidently there was mis-communications about the survivors and checking their vital signs.
(Reuters) - Only one man survived after an explosion in a West Virginia coal mine, a mine official said on Wednesday, transforming joy into grief just hours after an incorrect report emerged that 12 of 13 missing miners were still alive 40 hours after the blast.
Also just now on Bloomberg saying the same thing.

Very sad and certainly heart-wrenching to know that the relatives of the 12 had an emotional roller coaster ride that simply could not be put into words.

As a person who worked in the ultra deep gold mines of South africa in my young days, qualified and experienced, I must say me too shed tears every time some of these guys go this way. It is sad because life in the mines are hell as it is. I had my times and I had my bad experiences and do carry some scars... and the guts to get out and study even harder.

We must never think that is an easy life, it is not!

So sorry for the families:_(
