Just curious what is your workflow with RAW files?
Do you make the standard Raw editor adjustments, save the file and then alter the saved file some more?
What type do you save your RAW files as (jpg, psd, png, tif etc.)? |

In my workflow there is almost always some editing after RAW conversion, but this usually takes place immediately upon conversion with a final save as a JPEG file. In special circumstances where I know I'll do more editing passes I will save as either a PSD or TIFF. I usually use TIFF if I'm doing a panorama, with the pano saved to PSD when stitched and finally saved as JPEG when all is said and done.

RAW to TIFF and saved as same filename in an "edited" folder. TIFF to PSD in photoshop, and saved with layers as a new name including the dscn number (dscn0001.tif becomes sandy_wide_dscn0001.psd). Resized images saved as jpg files, typically at 640 pixels for DPC.

Why the extra step to PSD ?
I open Raw in PS in 16 bit. Crop the pic if needed, save as TIFF...
I do all my edits on the TIFF.
Change to 8 bits and save as Jpeg if needed...

Always RAW to PSD to a web friendly JPEG.
In PSD, you have more options than you do in TIFF.
Interesting thought though using tiff for a pano. Is it because of the huge information?

I always shoot RAW plus smallest JPeg. Working with the JPegs, decide if anything is worth processing and then for web just use the JPeg or if it needs a bit of work convert it using RAW Shooter Premium, save as Tiff, and edit in PS7, save one version as Tiff after edits in full size with "Edit" in the title and then crop resize etc. from there and each time I change the size or crop save as a different name relevant to the size etc. Sounds complicated but isnt really. I only ever sharpen as the last step of each picture.
