Does anyone know of a way that I can tell when new travel guide publications are forecast?
By that I mean, I was looking at the Lonely Planet, Cuba, but it was published in January 2004. I guess, with that now 2 years ago, that a newer version is on the way. But is there any way I can find out when it might be out?

I am sorry to tell you the Lonely Planet Cuba that came out in 2004 is their first update since 2000 and they come out at the end of the year so it's the newest series. Another update won't come out for at least 3 more years. That guide, even thought slightly outdated, it's still good. As a matter of fact, all travel guides are already outdated by the time they are released and updated versions are usually virtually identical to the previous ones in content. I am an avid traveller and I have pretty good knowledge of travel guides etc and I can tell you they are virtually useless except for helping you find your way around and giving you an idea of what's there to do, which virtually never changes. As far as prices go, they are only good to get a very rough idea. Try the Rough Guide to Cuba 3, it came out in July 2005.

| For anyone else that picks up this thread, Lonely Planet says the next version of Cuba will be out in January 2007. |
