I'm torn between the Sigma 100-300 f4 DG and the Sigma 170-500 f5-6.3 APO Aspherical.
I really like the speed of the f4 but that focal length seems great. Anyone that owns this lens have any thoughts about it.

I can find no reviews of the 170-500... The people at Fred Miranda (a pretty savvy bunch of users in the main) rave about the optical quality of the 100-300mm, comparing it very favorably to the Canon 70-200.

I found a couple reviews by users and they seem to like it. Considering a prime this size would be out of my range. I saw the stats at sigma and doesn't seem to bad at the 500 end. The 170 end seems a pretty bad compared to just about anything else though. I also just found what seems to be a very reputable dealer seller new for a little over $300.00. Think I might do it. Will just wait to see if anyone has anything else to say about it.
