I don't think it will matter much in the end at this point. But it is a bright side, sure. I think the Doc has this one wrapped up, unless it is someone else who isn't talking! LOL...

Oh Rose, don't worry about that. The last two numbers rarely make a difference in things. The "third number" only makes a small difference and a difference of 1 is probably minimal.
I wouldn't worry about getting "voted down" until your score drops by a full tenth. (Like from 6.300 to 6.200).
Right now, with 293 votes, even getting a 6 drops me by 0.0030, so that's nothing...
BTW, I got nothing "wrapped up". I'm 98% positive I KNOW of one entry ahead of me. That means there are probably 3-5 others I don't know about...

Well then, that means I have dropped by a full 10th now. Last three numbers have just gone from a 711 to a 696 with voter number 6 and just in the past hour. This doesn't look good, no matter how you slice it! LOL...It's ok. I'm dealing with it ok, but it is just phenomenal. All week peaking and peaking, and then BOOM. The last night and crash and burn with only 6 voters. I am at something like 284 voters now. Maybe there is still time to catch up! Maybe another 10 or so are on their way to the rescue! :)
I probably won't stay awake long enough for roll over though. Been going to bed early now that my son's vacation is over. But I usually get up between 3 and 4 anyway, and will check things then. I just won't be checking with over excitement.

ha, my bad. You still only dropped by a hundredth. I forgot there were 4 numbers...
SOOOOO...if you drop from 6.3000 to 6.2000, then you've dropped by a tenth. If you drop from 6.3000 to 6.2900, you've dropped by a hundredth. The first is significant, the second, probably doesn't even change your finishing place... |

Sure as hell does! LOL....BUT, thanks for your comment! I was one you voted high on, and I appreciate it. If yours is doing very well, then it is probably one I was pulling for to win! So my best to you!

I'm sorry for the confusion. I haven't posted my actual score. I am posting only the last three numbers here and not the first two. I am trying not to jinx myself..LOL..but I fear it may be too late for that. So you didn't miss anything. Let's just say by the votes I have received in the past hour, which have been 6 all together, they alone have caused me to drop by a full tenth. Something that hasn't happened since day one. :)

Could I by any chance be close to having 2 ribbons on the home page? Please keep on voting for my photo, you won't regret it ermmm I won't regret it ;)
Come on!! ;) |
I just figured out which one is yours. :) Yep it will be on the front page. If it's not I will be shocked. Excellent shot!!! My top pick and got a big fat 10 from me. |

But the last three numbers on their own aren't much use.
For example. If your score was 6.2768, and it dropped to 6.1895 there's not point telling us you've gone from '768' to '895' - You need to post the 4 digits after the decimal point for it to make sense.
And to drop a FULL tenth, you'll have to have dropped (as in my example) from 6.2768 to 6.1768 - That's a full tenth. Subtract one from the other, if the result is 0.1 or higher then you've dropped a full tenth. |

I've been posting on this thread from the beginning. Others have been following along as I have. They know what I have said, and they know what I mean.
I said I was sorry for the confusion. Let's just leave it at that. I still have a slim chance to go up with three more hours or so of voting time, by my clock. So we shall see where it all washes in the end. "Don't take it all so seriously". Whatever happens, I am fine with it. I will be happy for whoever ribbons and get prepared for the next challenge. It is just discussion on what I felt was a bit of a phenomenon, since I have been doing so well all week. So, its ok. Really. :)

To be honest, I don't think that's the case. I'm not the only one on this thread who was confused by your 'last two digits' and 'full tenth' posts!
I was trying to explain the importance of posting the 4 digits after the decimal place. I'm not fully convinced you have dropped a full tenth.
The swing you are seeing in your score is quite normal. Voters often go back over the shots in the last few hours of voting to make final adjustments to their high-end and low-end votes. I know I do. |

Look, it seems like you want to have the last word now, when I am trying to just end it. I know my score. I know what a full tenth is, and I know it has dropped by one. You are instigating again like you did on the other thread I have placed on ignore. I read what you said on the other thread before I placed it on ignore, by the way. Hence my emphasis on "not taking things to seriously". Now YOU are. Don't WORRY about it. DrAchoo had little problem knowing what was happening, and when I was confused, he graciously and already explained it. I posted on this thread earlier that I was going to stay stealth with my score not to jinx it. That is why I haven't posted all four digits.
Now, before your popcorn buddies follow you here for their own childish last words, which I am sure they had quite a few when I left, let me again say "I am ok with whatever happens. I am not taking it seriously" LOL....It is one challenge I thought I would do very well on, but that has happened before, and I met my own personal goal. I will survive not doing either on this challenge.
Quite frankly I am looking forward more now to Burst of Color and Backlighting. I am moving on. You can do the same, if you don't mind.

Your perspective was not on the other thread I spoke of. It is a bit funny to me that I left there due to havoc erupting with this poster at the helm along with a few others, and find it here where I last posted. BUT, it could just be my own paranoia. LOL....
Thank you for not insuing it further.

I am attempting to end it by ending the confusion.
Originally posted by Rose8699: I know what a full tenth is, and I know it has dropped by one. |
This is the point of my confusion. I cannot see how 6 votes can cause a 0.1 drop at this stage of voting. And posting the last three digits or the last two digits of your score only adds to that confusion.
Originally posted by Rose8699: You are instigating again like you did on the other thread I have placed on ignore. |
Instigating? - If you think I'm trying to instigate anything by calculating if you've really dropped a full tenth, then you're far too sensitive. I mean nothing personal by any of this. It's just maths.
Originally posted by Rose8699: I posted on this thread earlier that I was going to stay stealth with my score not to jinx it. That is why I haven't posted all four digits. |
It'd be easier to stay stealth by just not posting your score. Instead of a random selection of digits from within your score.
Originally posted by Rose8699: Now, before your popcorn buddies follow you here for their own childish last words |
I don't have any buddies on here. And certainly none made out of popcorn.

No thanks, I think I'll stay on this thread. You don't mind, do you? |

HEY! LOL...How did you figure that out? :) It's probably one of my top pics too.
Usually I am pretty good with finding the winners of a challenge with my nines and tens. Sometimes I am surprised, but not usually. I doubt I will be this time either. I gave out quite a few tens and nines in this one!

WOW! I guess the old tale on here is true. LOL..."The winners rarely post their scores". I forget who said that, but it is SO true.
Congrats on your placement DrArchoo. I got 20th with my Fairy Godmother, and I am pretty happy with that!
To the winners, a huge congrats! I surely didn't callem this time around, but they are surely deserved. I thought for sure it would be an animal shot though :)

Gosh, I'd be happy. LOL...BUT, I'm getting up there! I have some pretty good percentages in a short time. I'm pleased with that, but still strive for my first ribbon! :)
Your shot was really cute. I remember it well when looking through the entries. LOL....

If it hadn't dropped that tenth in the last hour you would have scored 6.407 which would have put you at about 15th place. |

ok so now that this is over i just want some feedback / conformation on my theroy why this didnt do so well. this shot is of a charm my mother hung from her bed post when she was trying to have me. (my mother was also out of town this week and i could not get a female motherly model so this is what i had to work with) I need to know if this was the reason it did bad, or if there were glaring technical issues with it as well... thanks

Had we have known that little story it probably would have been better...that's the bummer about not being able to tell a story with some pics...I would have rated it higher than I did (which was a 5) had I have known that! |
