A man with a duck on his head walks into the bar.
The bartender says, "Hey, buddy, what happened to you?"
The duck says, "I don't know. It just started out as a growth on my foot and now look at it." |

CRUDE JOKE WARNING

Little Johnny's class was all set to work their way through the ABC's so the teacher started off by saying each letter and then asking for a volunteer to give a word that started with that letter.
Teacher: "A"
Little Johnny's hand flew up.
Teacher: Oh my goodness. I can't call on Little Johnny. There are just too many things he could say for "A".
Teacher: "Little Susie, would you tell us a word that starts with 'A'?"
Little Susie: "Apple. Apple starts with 'A'."
Teacher: "OK class. 'B' Who knows a word that starts with 'B'?"
Sure enough, Little Johnny's hand flies up again. The teacher nearly faints with visions of Little Johnny's wordlist for the letter B.
So it goes until all the children except Little Johnny have given at least one word for a letter. Finally the teacher realizes she's landed on the letter R.
Teacher: "'R' Anyone have a word for the letter 'R'?"
Not a moment's hesitation and Little Johnny is ready to answer. The teacher combs her memory for any offense that might be easily given with an 'R' related word. Hesitantly she decides to give Little Johnny a chance.
Teacher: Little Johnny?
Little Johnny: 'R' Rat starts with the letter 'R'
Teacher: Oh, Little Johnny, I'm so proud of the restraint you've shown and useful word you've selec. . . ."
Little Johnny: "We have a rat with a di** THAT big at our house!" |

CRUDE JOKE WARNING

Little Johnny gets to class late one morning and the teacher chides him as he takes his seat.
Little Johnny begins to explain the reason for his detention:
See, Teach, on the way to school today I saw a cat chasin' a rat and a dog chasin' the cat. They come runnin' outta the alley and round the corner and that rat ran right into a hole in the bricks. The cat puts on his brakes and stops but the dog was goin' too fast and ran right up the cat's a** . . . .
Teacher: "Little Johnny! Rectum. Say Rectum instead"
Little Johnny: "Wrecked em?? It killed both of 'em!" |

Perhaps I'll learn s'more for the next time you know anything about the Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus and where they're going to be.
Oh wait. I did remember another cheesy one.
What did the fish say when it ran into the wall?

Here's a link to directions to CNN Center.
Directions to CNN Center
But here's the thing, with the circus being in town and at the Arena it might be a wee bit crowded there to park and to eat. So here's another way to do this. We can meet at Underground Atlanta, like we did for the first GTG, eat there then take the Marta to the CNN Center and walk to Centennial Park across the street. How's that sound?? I'd just hate for us all to get stuck in Arena traffic. Check out the link for Underground for directions and restaurants. Anyone have any preferrences for food? :-)
I can take the carseats out of the minivan (if you're uncool enough to be seen in one) :-) and have room for another 5-6 folks if you'd like to carpool to the next location, Atlantic Station or wherever it may be.

Hi! I disappeared for a few days, but I'm into the suggestion of Feb 18th at Jocks & Jills. I've been meaning to get onto the 17th Street bridge that someone brought up - the one near Atlantic Station. I think that's a great view.
On another topic, I attended my first "Atlanta Photography Group" meeting tonight - very inspiring. Any of you attend those? |

Cool, I've been wanting to do that forever!! Just never got the courage (or time away from the kids) to do it. I think I would feel too intimidated or that I was an imposter or something. :-) How was it?

I am going to look around for stuff to do with long exposures. Maybe we all can have fun with this.

Jennifer - it was great! I definitely encourage you to try it. There were about 30 people there (it seemed to be more than they were expecting - perhaps New Years resolutions to get involved or something?). Some were extraodinarily talented - several had books published, or had participated in gallery shows at great places, or taught photography. The images they showed were really inspiring. On the other hand, there were many people (like me) who didn't show any work, and a couple whose work wasn't really to my taste.
It was mostly, as I said above, inspiring. It was fun to have a room full of passionate photographers, and cool to see so many great images. Definitely made me want to pick up my camera more often! |

I'd like to meet up with you guys. I am very familiar with the city, and have spent a good bit of time photographing it. Twilight on Jackson Street is great, as well as late night from there. The park is nice, but not one of my favorties. If anyone has any MARTA connections, there is a great night skyline shot from the top of the Lindbergh deck. The last time I was there, I was hassled by MARTA cops. They told me I was breaking homeland security law by taking photos at a transit staton. We spent about 45 minutes doing a check on all my numbers and verifying who I was. I have some of those shots on my site, //www.creekfall.com. There are also some shots from the south side of the city that are nice, and I have yet to get those.
On another note, where does the Atlanta Photography Group meet and how often? Thanks, and I'll be watching the thread to see what you guys decide.

Jackson St is the classic spot for skyline shots, but there's nothing else around there at night. Ditto Lindburgh. |

Hey Eric, you clearly know you're way around the best spots of Atlanta at night. It would be awesome if you could join us. :-) Like I said in an earlier post, I can carry about 5 or 6 folks in my car so maybe we can carpool around town to get the best places if there's another SUV or minivan driver coming along. Let's all hope for good weather, so as not to have another rained out nightshoot. :-)
CT, I'll PM you my cell#. :-)
And James, Eden is alive and well (well enough anyways) and back from Florida. I'm pretty sure she's going to try to make it and if not, I know where she lives so maybe I'll have to do a little late night extraction/mom-napping. :-)
Looks like a good crowd. Can't wait to see everyone again and meet some new folks as well.

I'm sorry for not posting, thanks for the pm. I've been following the thread, just forgot you all don't have ESP. You can count me in :-)
James, you should be careful of your tone, I know where you'll be the night of the 18th and it will be dark...
