Hello, my dear good DPchallenge friends ... I was thinking if anyone out there could tell me about some flash that I can use with my S602zoom.
I don't know much about flashes but I know what I the flash needs to do ... I need flash that has ability to tilt upward and swivel.
If you can maybe send me a url to a website that has a flash that does work with my S602zoom I would be so happy man. |

Seems to suggest a sunpak 383, but I don't know which is best as I don't have an external flash for my s602 yet. :)

I have a flash from Ritz Camera. I think its a quantaray. It was about $60 US and it tilts up, twists to 90 degrees from the camera in either direction, has a telephoto setting. Its nothing fancy but it's pretty powerful and reasonably inexpensive. My wife has a small sunpak flash from Ritz (that she uses for her s602z). it was about $30. Much smaller but also less power and less awkward. My flash has a range of about 45' max. Hers is about 25' max. Oh yea, and hers also works as a slave unit which is mighty nice to have. I have a separate slave and it sucks.
For a $60 investment, I think the flash I got is worth it. You may be able to find something comparable online for less. I'm not really knowledgeable in the flash department, but that's what I have and it works pretty well for me.

I had done much research prior to buying the Vivitar 285 HV (bought mine from B&H Photo & Video, around $80.00).
The 285 HV has bounce but does not swivel (although you can get around that with accessories). Another option to look into would be the Sunpak 383 (has bounce and swivel).
Good luck. |

Well I have two flashes. I have a Vivitar 2000 that I bought at Walmart for five bux. Not to mention that must have been a mistake. It is a bounce flash. And I also have a Vivitar 285 on loan from my Father inlaw. The 285 is huge and does not look nice on top. The 2000 is much smaller and looks like it belongs on the cam. It does not communicate with the cam, but it does the trick. I also use it as my fill light as seen in this picture.

That is my little flash.
I hope my post it helpful. This flash takes 4 AA and lasts for hundreds of pictures.
Have a good night. |

I agree that the Vivitar is rather large, but with it comes adjustable power (Guide No. 120) and versatility. You can add an inexpensive flash bracket to bring the flash down off the camera (and gives some swivel capability). Note: No flash directly communicates with the S602.
