Maybe the best ever?
The Exposure Date date rule does not apply.
Not really sure what that means. |

It means that obviously the photo can't be taken within the submission period, since it's now 2006, and the photo has to be taken in 2005.

Okay, this is my first Best of Challenge. What does the "The Exposure Date date rule does not apply" line mean. The way it's written it could mean anything before the Challenge closure date. I would hate to be getting a good score then a DQ.
Can someone help.
Thanks and Happy New year

Simply it means that you can use photos from 2005 - you do not need to take the photo after the challenge opens. (that is what i understand anyway)

Someone really needs to modify that rule to make it a special, flagged rule for this "best of 2005" challenge. As stated, it is in the challenge description and we are repeatedly told that challenge descriptiosn are not "rules". I would think a special rule saying "Your picture must have been taken between Jan 1 2005 and December 31, 2005, and may not have been entered in any other DPC challenge during that time." would do the job.
Just for consistency's sake...
Robt.

It is the "Best of 2005" challenge. not "The best of 2005, and some of 2006" challenge. ;)

I just submitted my entry, and noticed the "date" checkbox said this: " Yes, this photograph was taken with a digital camera on or between Jan 1 2004 and Dec 31 2004."
Obviously, it wasn't :-) This needs to be fixed also.

SC is aware of the issue, when the powers that be aren't out partying the New Year away, I'm sure they will fix it. No need for mass panicing...everything will be ok.
Just use common sense and submit a photo taken in 2005. |

Well this one has me thinking. I haven't entered a challenge for awhile because of either a. time or b. lack of inspiration. But now I'm thinking I already have some of my best pics in my profile so that blows them out of the water too. Time to search through some folders I think! |

Best of 2005: does it have to be a photo we have never had in our portfolio before?

If i recall from last year, it can be. pull it or hide it now if you plan on submitting it.
and you probably shouldn't submit something that has been hashed and rehashed in a thread.
I submitted one that was in my portfolio, so it better be ok to do so!

Nope. Be a good idea to hide it if you enter it, though.

You don't even have to do that; you can check it in your portfolio page and then select "hide this image"; that's supposed to do the trick. I don't think people can see it even if they link to it when you do that. But maybe better safe than sorry...
