Finally broke down and shelled out the money for the AC adapter for my camera, now I can do some time lapse photography that I've been dying to try out.

Any suggestions on subjects I should try shooting?

What are you planning to do? Sounds interesting. I'd like to give it a try also.

How about time-lapse photography of some paint drying?

Oh, maybe not. A flower unfurling, then.

Maybe start with something easy, like a clock face (with a second hand)

I've done two different things along these lines. First, snapping multiple shots (burst sequence) of, for instance, a sprinter leaving the blocks. Then, using photoshop, placing all the sprinters in s single picture.

Second, using my remote timer, setting my camera to take a picture once every X minutes, tripod based, of the same scene. I did one of these in my backyard one sunny day to catch the sun's motion and the shadows of everything swinging around. I made a Quicktime movie and animated GIF of the results. Very cool.

Three illustrations of this latter method are on my website here (bottom of page, "animations"). Warning, some of those file sizes are pretty big. Not for the modem connected DPCer.

those are really cool strangehost. I was thinking I'd like to do some star shots. I don't have a telescope to track the stars though so I could only show the rotation of the earh (which is fun too).

My plan is to hook it up to my laptop (using Nikon capture) and take photos for at least an entire day. Depending on how that turns out I might adventure on and give up my camera for a week or two :)

I saw a really cool (but also a little gross) TL of a dead fox completely decay. I don't have any dead animals though and I don't think I'm gonna go out looking ;)

Maybe a flower or something if I can find someplace it'll grow this time of year. I don't have much of a green thumb unfortunately.

That sounds very cool.

I did a cursory look through my hard drive and couldn't find any of the good time lapse shots I did, but did find one so-so one:

Hmmm, image thumb doesn't seem to like animated GIFs. Here's the link.
