| I just went to click on a thread titled "this has got to be the most disturbing..." and then it dissapeared. Where'd it go? |

probably hide because it was a quote of a comment, that should have been handled via Report Post. I imagine SC hide it after the point was made

That's correct.
Inappropriate forum posts should be addressed by using the Report Post feature, and not replying to the post in question or posting a new thread about it.

Just to verify, the offending post was hidden, therefor there was no need for discussion of that particular comment that no longer existed. I have received a PM from the OP of that thread and responded personally to him. I believe that the situation has been handled properly and dealt with in an appropriate manner. Any further discussion on the topic should be discussed without quoting offensive posts, or pointing out specific people.
If there are issues with posts or specific people, please direct those questions to the SC privately and we'll handle it.
After all, it's our job. Thanks.
