This is to thank bear_music for his marvellous thread Photoshop Basics Mentorship Group: Workflow Thread. I found that thread casually but is helping me a lot with my editing. Since then I only edited levels a little bit in Photoshop Elements, so this thread introduced me in PS world.
I know I have to learn SOOOOOOO many things. But this is a beginning.
I post here four examples of how I used the workflow in my images. Basically the steps are: automatic levels, automatic colors, layer with levels, layer with selective color, layer with hue/saturation, USM, resize, USM.
Please let me know how you like/dislike them, or if you have any questions or suggestions. Of course the master bear_music is invited too, LOL.
Thanks everybody. |

Looks like you're having fun. Thanks for the kind words. In the first two, you've overcooked the saturation quite a bit IMO. The second pair look more natural. I've done a quick version of the second one, which involved also making a selection of the sky and working the two halves separately: I've kept the warmer hues on the yachts, because it looked more inviting to me, but that's a personal thing. I think the blues are more reasonable, mainly. By separating sky out, I was able to keep proportionally more blue in the water as I toned down the sky.
Keep plugging away!
R.
Oh yeah, I threw in one of my trademark gradients int he sky too, just for you :-)

Any others opinions? I'll be happy to listen to you even if you don't like the shots.
Thanks. |
