I was just minding my business when I got a call from a lovely young lady I've worked with before. As you can see from the following photo she's not only a "Hooters Girl" she also made the calendar this last year. She is such a beauty and has never been anything but one of the sweetest people around me.
[Conversation]
Me: Hello, this is Kevin?
She: Hey, its me. I just found out I need some photos for a promotional job someone is considering me for. Is there any way you could print some for me?
Me: Sure. What do you need.
[list ensues]
Me: I have all those readily available except for the uniform; its already archived (who's gonna want a shot of someone in their work outfit?).
She: Can I drop by & pickup those others?
Me: Sure; we'll go ahead and shoot a quick one of you in your uniform if you want to bring it.
-SIGH-
So often when the phone rings anymore its liable to be a paying job but that entails work which takes time which is something I don't have a lot of anymore. Its nice to get such a wonderful opportunity to take a picture of someone so lovely on short notice. What a nice little 30 minute break from my day.

I'm just sufferin' for my art, brother. Thankfully I haven't felt the urge to cut off an ear or anything but as you can see its the commitment to the art that drives me.
Ahh, I had to stop laughing so hard before I could finish typing. Seriously there are some artsy things to shoot and some commercial stuff to shoot and then there are the little gems that just surprise ya.

Did you use purple lights on the right, and reds on the left?
She's very attractive and I'm jealous, but the light seems weird.

God bless the Hooters girls, and you for sharing a great photo of one with us! :-) I remember seeing one of her pictures in your portfolio before and actually thinking she'd make a great Hooters girl! Nice job Kevin! |

ROFL. My wife gives some latitude with photography like this but my shots aren't generally the ones in the mags or on the calendar. I tend to shoot the shots that get sent to whatever contest or magazine editor decides who gets in. Hmmm. I don't know if that's a niche or not.
I'll try to live up to more of the corporate mystique next time.
;)

Pretty close. Blue on left, red on right & pink on BG. Lit subject from either side with large softboxes. I don't like it when my kickers are the same color and I only like non-gel'd lights for hairlights. The colors are meant to help convey the depth but I just don't have enough yet to blend 'em on the skin the way I want from above & behind.
Good eye, tho.

Ya know the funniest thing. I've literally been in Hooters more times to drop off pics than to go eat or whatever. I think I've had 2 meals ever in a Hooters. The young women that I've photographed from there always seem so nice to me, tho. It's really not what most people I'm around seem to expect.
Sadly I had to ask this subject a few times about how they wear the uniform because under the studio lights some things show through here & there that I'm sure are less noticeable in the dimly lit restaurant. Had to touch out seams and whatnot that made me wonder "Do you all always wear the uniform like that?"
Oh well, I was just sayin' that I enjoyed such a distraction.

That's ok. You don't really go for the food anyways. ;-) I've only been to a Hooters twice, and I have to say the food there is... well, not the real draw to that place.
You lucky dog! Maybe I should hang out in our local Hooters more often and then try to explain to my wife the real reason why I'm in there so much. |
