I just sold my Flashtrax so I need a USB 2.0 external hard drive (100GB +) right away...I can send money right now through Paypal.

Let me know in this thread what you have and how much.

Preference given to Canadians (to avoid taxes)...also, any tips on cheapest place to get a hard drive in SW Ontario would be nice (best I could find new was a 200GB for $260 at Staples).

Thanks!

Actually, just found a seemingly good deal here, too...

160GB - 89.99 after rebate

FWIW I have NEVER received a rebate cheque...so I stay away from mail-in rebates or at least do not take the mail-in rebate into consideration when considering the price of an item.

I've never not received a check for the rebates I've sent in. I've forgotten to send in plenty, though. :)

I've had good luck with rebates that I've sent in...I think I'll go with this one since it's in stock just down the street.

Comstar 160GB External - 149.99 minus $50 rebate

Does that one look okay?

Whenever possible, I shop at:

Wintronic Computers

They have shops in Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, & St. Catherines.

Take a look in the hard drive section, they have an external USB2 200GB for $189.

I prefer Wintronic because they're smaller & I never have to deal with rebates when I buy from them. But beware, at least in Burlington, the salespeople & owner are rather surley. It helps to know exactly what you want before going in there. I think most of their business is to resellers, which I used to do a fair bit of, so they know me by name.

Anyhoo, a plug for them from me.

I've always just walked in to buy stuff, so I don't know how good their delivery is, though I think they do deliver.

Cheers

Tigerdirect has been a good source in my experience, and I've never had a rebate note happen for me....
