Great shots!! It must be nice to live somewhere that isn't grey and ugly all winter long. I went out to take some photos today and all I got was depressed.
I ordered the 70-200 F/2.8 Friday along with 2 other F/2.8 lenses.

Is the close up of the two lions a crop from the other one. If it is, that is incredibly sharp glass.

Very nice

Yes, it is. Its almost 100% crop as the first one was already cropped about 25%. This glass is amazing, really can't say enough about the increase in quality at a distance. (BTW, was also shot at full zoom)

Wow,

I'm moving up slowly. Some glass now and then gonna upgrade the camera when I see what Canon is gonna do with the 20D. Everyone says that the new model should be out in the next few months.

Can't wait to see what the new model will be.

I debated for weeks which I should get. The F/4 or the 2.8. I placed the order and cancelled it a dozen times before I actually done it for good. I'm still not really sure the F2.8 justifies the almost double price tag. Too late now though.

Well you are way ahead of me. I got the kit lenses with my Rebel about 2 years ago when money was very tight. They have served me well but it is time to upgrade everything a little at a time. So goes life, one piece at a time.

The new toys are some of the best times.

Not so much really. I've spent the last 2 1/2 years shooting a Sony 717 (which I still ADORE). Just upgraded to dSLR about 3 months ago and got seriously lucky that some unexpected funding hit about the same time. Still I have NO buyers' remorese! It was worth every penny spent.

I noticed that you have you own photography business. Is this also something new. I made an assumption that you had been doing this for years with all the top end gadgets. (There goes that whole ASSUME thing)In my defense, your talent would back me up on the assumption.

See, I retire in about 3 years and then I want to be in a situation like you and some others around DPC who have their own businesses. Kinda move into my second career. Been an amateur photog all my life, just moving more to the professional side for about the past 6 months.

The things you learn here..............

:) James, I was an art student, been a graphic designer for years. I've always taken photography seriously, but never pursued it as a means of income. About 3 years ago I became obsessed. I still do graphics work 40 hours a week, but I work from my home, so I can fit in 3 years of study/practice/study/learn/study time between projects. I started getting professional appointments/jobs about 12 months ago, really it amazed me as much as anyone, but I knew my work was good enough. Now my obsession earns cash and that rocks! I've had art obsessions (some people call them hobbies, HA!!) all my life, but never earned a buck painting water colors for my friends! :)

Wow,

That is incredible. I have never been "artistic" or at least never pursued it. But....about 8 month ago it just took off and now I am driving everyone at home nuts. Did my first childs christmas party 3 weeks ago. First paid job and loved it. Now I can't wait for the next job or for those 3 years to go by so I can move on to this. I'm having a great time at this.

I can't wait to see where it goes.

I have firm offers of $375 for the 70-300 and $125 for the 75-300. Unless I get a better offer in the next 20 minutes, these lenses are sold. :)
