I was perusing the tutorials and checked out the tutorial on getting more detail in shadows and highlights. WOW. The tutorial by Tim Jensen (timj351) is amazing. It shows how to get more detail in shadows without blowing out highlights. example:
this is a snapshot of my son with his muddy 4 wheeler. To lighten his face with out blowing out the the hood was virtualy impossible. Using Tims technique:
Anyone struggling with this the way I was,check it out. Wonderful tutorial. Thanks Tim.

I have used that tutorial more than any other. And the shortcuts for selecting are just awesome.
