Whats the difference between:
Assign Profile and Convert to Profile..?
I'm still having trouble understanding color profiles. There are so many color profiles I have to deal with (and match up?). Profile of my display, profile used in PS, profile of image, profile of printer and paper. I can never get the color from my printer to match my monitor.
Does anyone know any useful links where I learn more about this stuff? I've been looking all around..
And no, i dont want to use a color profiling device. I want to understand how color profiling works.
Thanks

Start here.
Color management is a very complex topic, and the book I referenced above is a great resource. It covers the topic in both great breadth and depth.
BTW, "Assign profile" simply tags the image with the selected profile but performs no conversion. Convert to profile actually translates the image data from the current profile to the target profile.
