Hi all, some of you have noticed some of the new additions in my portfolio

and PMed me or asked about the state of my sister.
She is doing just fine and healing well.
She had brain surgery on the 15th of this month due to a Chiari Malformation. Basically, her brain was too big and going down into her spinal chord, so they removed her first vertabre. It was dangerous to leave it as is because if she were to get whiplash or hit her head really hard, she could die.
She wants to thank you all for your concern and comforting words.

Also, is there anyone around DPC that's had something like this? Its seems to be more common than people think.

Thanks everyone! :)

Well that is uncommon in this world; someone whose brain is too big.

Hope she gets to felling better real fast.

Glad everything went well. I know after seeing the photos I was concerned as well. Sure I dont know her, but every life is valuable.

On the upside, It did offer you an extremely unique photo opp ;-) You should take more of her, to make her feel better, from all sides.

Looks like she's doing good - that is good.

I agree - a unique photo op that can also be of benefit to others who need to undergo this procedure if you can find an outlet, some foundation/doctors/hospital etc. These photos show off your extreme photographic skill quite well.

You have a brave sister - good luck to her.

To answer your question: nope, never had this done to me.

My goodness! I had no idea! How old is she? Must have been terribly scary for you and your whole family!!! Glad to hear she's doing okay!

Hello,
Please give your sister my best wishes
and my hopes for her speedy recovery.
As to your question about anyone else
having "Chiari Malformation"?

yes, I have "Chiari Malformation Type I"
with a 6MM herniation. I̢۪ve had two back surgeries
(although not related I think ???)

I often feel like, "Alice" falling down the rabbit̢۪s
hole, each new day can be an adventure.
There are as many as 49 different symptoms
associated with this "neurological disorder " and
I̢۪ve managed to touch base with most at one time
or other.
I wrote a Poem about how I was feeling
about "Chiari" chipping away at me.

Memory Of A Damaged Mind

My days feel numbered,
swiftly consumed by time.

Each day I loose a little more
of the damaged organ I call my mind.

More thoughts and memories are lost
and soon I̢۪ll disappear.

I just wanted to leave a little trail of bread
crumbs to let the world know I was here !
