First one I did auto contrast (i like the effect) and the second one i ran sepia through it as well as diffuse glow.
Opinions as always are much appreciated.

Not a big fan of glow filters, but the first image is great. The way everything is divided up into blocks really adds interest. Great to see your getting good use out of your DSLR.

Hi Lisa from your Hunter Valley Fan Club.
I like the fishing one very much. I think nsbca7 identified what makes it so artistically interesting; the division into blocks ... it's an unusual effect, and very absorbing for that reason. The segmented effect even extends into the cloud structure, which looks distinctly divided in a vertical line up from the rod tip. I also like the stance of the two guys; it conveys all that I love about beach fishing - the feel of the sand on your bare feet, the smell of the patches of seaweed on the beach, the sound of the waves, and good companionship. Beach fishing provides all that, plus of course an excuse to just stand there and enjoy it! I used to go beach fishing with my late father, and I imagine we looked just like those two guys in your photograph. A very fine photograph that captures the essence of one of life's most imperishable pleasures.
