| That owl is great; such a subtle desat that your mind is at rest watching and it seems natural. very nice. |

I like the owl, the way the gaze seems to grab you.
Noobie question coming:
When you do desats, do you select the area you want to leave saturated, then reverse the selection and desat the rest? Sounds stupid, but I am still learning. And forgive me if this turns into a hijack, not intended. |

| Those are both very very nice. Does anyone take photos with selective desats in mind or does it just end up that way in post processing? |

Depends on the subject and the format. You can convert the whole image to b/w then use the history brush to paint back the subject, you can mask out the subject that you want the color to remain and use the regular brush in desat/remove color mode are the easiest ways.
