OK guys, I'm not one to start "morning after" threads asking what went wrong, but I've also never finished a challenge with just 4 comments before either...... so.............
what is it? Uninspiring? Boring? Dull? Ugly? The score began the week horribly but rose to a respectable level as the days passed, it just didn't inspire any comments. What would give this image "pop", hold your attention, make you comment?
Thanks for ya help.

Thanks for the comment, JP. It was mostly dark chocolate, which I dislike, so I gave it all to my neighbor's kid. :)

Added more, I'm s l o w. For me it was a debate on wood vs chocolate for mr moose - I think that took away from the whole thing for me. Was the moose chocolate?
Hmmm. Seems most women don't cotton to dark chocolate, but get in their way of normal chocolate and you're apt to lose a limb. |

I probably should not comment because I find myself always seeing more in my photos than everyone else. I guess I am still unable to look at a creation and disassociating my effort and the vision of my reality with the reality that most others see. (Maybe this explains you and this pic?) That being said, I did not see the attraction of this entry. The subject does not seem "comfortable" in the stark white background. It also appears somehow fuzzy and over sharpened, if that makes any sense. I agree with the idea that it would have been a more effective depiction if the moose were in more "moose surroundings" such as a bough of a Christmas tree or other colorful candies depicting some general scene (maybe some blue colored sugar for water. Nothing too specific or realistic, just something to create a mood and add color. Basically, the photo to me is stark and somehat bland and unnatractive. (Sorry- maybe I should have surar-coated my assessment)

FWIW, I would have given this a high score, limited mainly by it looks oversharpened. It's not necessary to have the moose made of chocolate -- it's still a good pun.
I didn't vote because I'm not a member, but I do comment on over 75% of the images I vote on, and I wish others would do the same (I'm receiving about a 4% rate overall). |

The moose is painted brass.
Thanks for the insight, I recognized that it doesn't have "Wow factor", just couldn't decide why lol

I'm sorry alfresco, but as something of a chocolate guy myself, I have to differ with your take on Women's views on Chocolate.
I agree that many women don't cotton to typical dark chocolate, but typical dark chocolate has a tendency to be waxy and flavorless.
Where I differ is the use of the word "normal" chocolate. Milk chocolate is a rather poor representation of chocolate and should not be referred to as 'normal'. Normal Chocolate is actually dark chocolate.
How do I know? Well, I was a buyer for a natural foods store and did a certain amount of research (including calling europe, china to speak with manufacturers and tracking bean sources for different brands - african or caribbean being most common) over a period of 8 months at which point I was able to securely say that I had located a source for the highest grades of chocolate in the world. The really high grades of chocolate are not terribly palatable, but move down a few grades and pick up a chunk of Organic dark 55% and hand it to pretty much any female and I guarantee she will "cotton to it".
;)
I've had a few girls "ask for a cigarette" after sampling even just a small peice.
It's pretty powerful stuff and while it bears very little resemblance to most typical storebought chocolate (which is usually made with rather coarse cacao and tragically often incompatible spacer oils), it is more accurately called a "normal" chocolate due to its purity and resemblance to traditional product.
Oh and don't take me too seriously. My point is that you might want to go out there and find out a little more about chocolate. You might benefit!

I am not a real big fan of photographing objects, the fact that they aren't alive brings with it a sense of boredom to me. I understand retail photography, but these two objects just don't do much together.
Oh, and dark chocolate is my favorite! bittersweet. |
