"Christmas Eve"

Christmas Eve
the stockings are bare
no presents to see
no tree even there
the streets all glisten
with cold city lights
the joy of a nation
is lost in the night
a cold lonely man
huddles alone
no family to call
no place to call home
I pray that I may
I pray that I might
help in some way
his helpless plight
to stand on his own
and to have his own bed
so visions of peace
can run through his head
but I am all talk
I really don't care
it shows by my walk
and my failure to share
so I lie in my house
all warm in my bed
selfish visions
run through my head
ashamed of myself
that I could be
so cold and thoughtless
'cause someday
that could be me.

Just a thought. Jeff

Beautiful, and something that ought be considered everyday. Very compassionate, TY Jeff for posting your thoughts.
