There is a name for being afraid of stairs/steep inclines. I also read the list. I'm telling ya'll... if I hadn't been in Florida... that ribbon would be mine! |

Originally posted by DanSig: if you'd read the challenge description it clearly says to photograph "PHOBIA" and by that meaning it must be something from the phobialist, because phobia is a medical term, if your fear of something hasn't been recognised as a phobia and given a latin name that ends with phobia, then it just isn't phobia, just fear ;)

Listen there isn't a meeting we doctors attend to vote on which fears count as phobia at which point we consult our latin or greek lexicons and name it. Phobia, as a medical or psychological term, simply means "an irrational fear". You can have a phobia of anything as long as the fear is out of proportion to the real risk the object presents...
The phobia list was just a suggestion of where to start...

Yup - Took my 3 year old to the Circus recently and he flipped out. Still freeks out when the older one puts on a red nose he got there. Never occured to me.... |
"Fear of Clowns" is actually very common among children, and a classic phobis that is much-documented. There are many theories as to why this should be so.
Im scared of clowns too lol have been eveer since i was a lil girl that was 10 years ago..

I tried my damndest to come up with something for this challenge, but I just didn't find irrational fear projecting from any of my photos, so I didn't submit. I am not surprised at the number of entries that also do not do this.
One thing that would have been VERY helpful is if everyone defined their phobia in their title rather than just naming it. I had to look at the list 50 times to see if I thought the phobioa matched what I saw. |
