I hate MySpace's interface and setup. It's just such a crappy implemented site. I so can't wait for the fad to pass by as I've had many friends move to MySpace...*blargh*

Hence my solution (please feel free to download and share)

I am waiting for Google to make like a social interaction/blog/personals type site system with nice clean and friendly interface.

They could call it the G-spot or something....

Myspace is actually a good marketing tool, as well as a great place to find models.

I agree, but probably stronger - I think it's a disorganized, annoying cesspool of crap that either caters to, or is dominated by adolescents of the beavis & butthead genre. I believe there is a requirement to be 18 to have an account, but I know that my 13yo son has a bunch of friends on it that claim to be 19.

Anyway - that's my opinion of it.

i HATE myspace more than any other site on the web - more so because people use it!!! How? WHY?!?!?
It is the most userunfriendly mess i have ever stumbled across

BECAUSE WE HATE IT...but it's like so many we know are moving to this crappy site because of threads like this. It is such an unmanageable website. Poor navigation. And it's such a hassle to do anything from the page. Like try reading the blog. I so much prefer LiveJournal.

The topic is simply "MySpace!" and I may not have clicked on it if it said "Ooooh, I love MySpace, what is your MySpace?" ;-)

Seems reasonable to hear the detractors out. I haven't heard anyone say what they like about it or why they like it.

Moving from what? I'm not sure what people would do on MySpace that would require you to go if you don't like the site. Just don't use it.

well, i'm one who doesnt hate it, and frankly, i would have never looked at a myspace type page just because i saw it advertised on the web. i rarely join anything i see on the internet, actually. i finally recently succumbed to myspace after months of my 3D friends telling me to do so. which is basically what it is for me--a funny place to keep in touch with the people i know in the tangible world.

whereas say, dpc is the perfect (safe) place to meet online people and develop those friendships into something real, i rarely add people on myspace that i dont know and i don't blog, so basically myspace is a just a place to keep up with the people you see on a daily basis, or those that you wish you could but cant. sending myspace messages is no different for us than texting or phone--just another outlet of communication. plus there is something narcisstically satisfying about leaving comments that everyone can see. ;)

whatever, i'm sure it's not for everyone, but if you have a circle of friends that use it as a communication tool, then it's pretty nifty.

A big problem is the cross of the scenes, it's promoted itself strongly as a "band/music" site and then as a personals site. And the interface isn't conducive to either.

But so many artists wind up moving to it. And it's very restrictive. I guess I could curse RIAA for killing MP3.com and leaving the world with no real good solid alternative. There are sites that are much better for music but not very well known (and it requires a certain noterighty in order to build a independent music scene site). And the personal end of it are just annoying disorganized. It's like you try to edit your profile and get SPAM'd with ads.

I like clean distinct interfaces. It's called good design. LJ is pretty decent on that front. DPC is quite nice (minus good search features). And if you look at them you'll see very similar design structure for two completely different mediums. MySpace is a jumbled mess.
