I just uploaded a black and white image for a challenge.
I have been working on the perfect setup with it for two days and got it to where I thought the contrast was great. Once I uploaded it the picture completely changed. All the black just got darker and blocked up where when I look at it on my computer before I uploaded it the detail in the black was clear.
Why is this happening and what can I do about it? HELP.

This is probably related to the colourspace you're working in.
Since web images are in the sRGB colourspace the image might benefit from being worked on in the same space. If using one with a wider colour/tone range (Adobe RBG 1998) you could run into trouble. |

Also check your compression settings. Open the web-sized version you saved locally on your computer and see if the problem exists there.

That's it. So I should work in this when editing for a challenge I presume? Thanks for the help.
