I believe I just watched the 3rd place finisher in the Country challenge get zapped... curious to know what happened?

There must be a Site Council member around who can give us an explanation for this.

Proof was requested for her photo. She could not produce the original. Her account was removed at HER request.

The suspence is killing me.

I was just now made aware of a discussion that may have directly or indirectly related to the third place winner in the forums. This had nothing to do with any actions we took. The photo was disqualified because the photographer could not provide the original when we requested it (see challenge rules). The account was removed entirely at the photographer's request.

People are already forming their own ideas, and if she's innocent of wrongdoing there's a good reason let her name be cleared. Given the recent talk it would let those know that if they are thinking about wrong things, they know the punishments are swift, direct and total.

I think I cleared it up nicely. She was unable to produce the original of her photo for proof that the photo was legally taken within DPC rules, and Got DQed. Her account was removed at HER request. No wrong doing.

That's sad to hear... I was just admiring more of her work this afternoon, as a matter of fact.

I replied while you were typing. You did clear it up perfectly. :) Thanks too!

There was a lot of Gigi-bashing going on here because of her voting patterns - my guess is she figured she'd be blacklisted from here on in, so might as well disappear.

Too bad - she made nice pictures.

With any kind of luck, she'll sign up again with a new ID, and no bad Karma.

She has been a dpchallenge pal for me. We often exchange mails and the last one is she told me she is quitting DPchallenge. First she promise herself if she get disqualified at any reason she will quit. From her last entry which she was #3 she can't provide the original photograph coz her computer was swipe out by virus, she was sad not defending herself to it but she cant do anything more about it. Second she's not use of defending herself even when talked about like in the forum when she was the topic about votes cast. And she recieves emails that are rude and hurting. She tried to vote before but due to slow connection in her country she decided not to continue voting, that's why. Im just here to site her side coz she wont defend herself anyway.

She just wanted to say thanks for all she learned and for the friends she met online hope you wo't judge her like others do.

I will miss her and her photos.

I was one of the people who questioned her voting patterns in the forums, but I think that personal rude emails are completely uncalled for.

NOBODY should have been sending her rude emails. I really hope that the person who did that really feels proud of themselves. I will never understand why people have to be total jerks. Does it make them feel good about themselves? Sometimes people really piss me off.

No, it's not the forum that hurts her. I think as she mentioned some emailed her directly on her email account and she was hurt in what they say.

Anyway I know she feels better now, and hope she email me soon.

If anyone gets rude emails, I hope they would at least bring it to our attention.
This is terrible that someone is driven away from here.
What was with the "witch hunt"?

On the other side, I hope she will come to realize that life happens. I am sorry a virus struck her computer. That can be devastating to those of us that treasure our digi files. However, there are other challenges, and it is nothing personal if something gets DQ'd. I am not making light of it, just saying that it seems like a rash decision. I think there is always more to a story, and I wish her well.

This is kind of an odd thing for her to say/declare isn't it? I've never really thought about how I would react if I got DQ'd but I'm sure I wouldn't quit DPC over it.

Sorry to hear she got rude/mean emails. I don't like posting my email address for reasons like this... Nuts, spam, cranks, etc.

Last, I really liked her picture so I'm sorry to see it DQ'd, but the rules are the rules, even if you get hit by a virus. :( Hope she has eradicated the beast and installed a good virus protector! I just backed up all my photos last night and have more backups to do tonight! Hope she had backups also.

All Interested,
I sent her a PM informing her of the forum about her voting. I wanted her to be aware of what was being said and also gave her the URL to the thread. I admired her work and never said anything rude in my message and wished her good luck. I just wanted to clear my end of it up before something else comes of it. If she got some rude remarks it wasn't me.

I did the same. Although I questioned why she did only vote on 50 some photos in the forum, I actually felt guilty doing so and I emailed her with the url. I realized it wasn't fair that the conversation was going on about her and she was clueless about it.

I know I wasn't rude about it either, I only pointed out that the conversation was going on.

Anyone sending rude emails to any other user should be next on the witch hunt list. That's unnecessary for ANY reason. I get as high strung about this site as anyone, but I can't imagine the person's justification for saying mean or rude things to another member of this site.

As for withdrawing the whole account, I think that's a bit much. She won a ribbon before and obviously shoots nice pictures. She has posted in the forum, so I don't think there was too much issue about talking behind someone's back. She may not have seen that particular thread, but nobody was hiding it and nobody mentioned her name.
