And I thought I was over the top. Every week I have a post-it note where I write down the scores and the number of votes, but now you've automated it! This should be a member feature, including the sms text messages! I would go even crazier! Hahaha!

Nope.
I dunno how DPC works, but I imagine it works something like this:
1) the scores are updated automatically once an hour, stealing at most 1 minute of database activity. Because of this, the scores will be cached, and the score doesn't have to be calculated again.
When someone presses the update button, the average is calculated for ONE person. That is calculating the average of up to 250 votes for one person - hardly noticeable in terms of computing power.
The update button is a really good idea, because it effectively distributes the computing requirements.

OH, MY!! This is like group therapy for the addicted. I figure its like the elevator buttons for kids. The challenges change over at 10PM where I'm at. I'm glued to the screen right at 10PM every Sun and Tues when I've submitted. Thank-you to all who start voting right away. My thing is...wanting to see how the FIRST person scored my picture. I wait for that, then start voting.
Everyone has their thing, I guess...it's interesting to see what other people's "thing" is. What I learned in therapy today is...I'm not the only one and I'm not the worse. :-) |

ROFL aint it the truth! I sit here at midnight and do the exact same but I start voting and usually at about 12:15 I check my score for the first time and I wish those were the same group of people who placed all 100 plus votes my score is always high with those early birds.
Should we plan to do this everyday from now on...
OH btw anyone ever notice the forum is more active on Monday than any other day of the week? Wednesday is the second most active! |

Thanks to knowing I am in company!:) I have checked my score, taken the last set of numbers down so that I can figure out how many points the last person gave me...I this warped? I sit here at work then at home then at work then at home...but boy what fun...except when a group comes through and 4 or 5 scores drop me from a 6.0082 to a 5.9998 with over 250 votes:(....got to go now and check my points
see ya! |
