Ok so Im new to photography and I have a course to go to in January but in the mean time what is a macro.. I feel soo stupid. |

A true macro is in theory a photo where the size of the object is identical to the size of the image on the film or sensor, i.e. a 1:1 ratio - resulting in a pretty big magnification when printed. But in reality macro refers to any close-up photos.

edit: lookign at your camera, it seems you should have a macro mode which you need to use to focus closeup. YOur camera apparently focusses from 30 - 50 cm on macro mode (but on normal mode cannot focus closer than 1.5m)
