Hi,

I'm a little confused when it comes to image size, resolution and best quality for prints...

My 20 d has an aspect ratio of 3:2. When I save the image, I set them up to 300 ppi. That creates an image that's 11.68 in * 7.787 in...

If I wanted to get an exact duplicate of that I'd imagine I would have to get it printed at that size... Now what happens to the quality if i get it printed at 9" * 6" (same aspect ratio)... It seems to me that if the printer is at 300 ppi, the original image has too many pixels.... so do the extra pixels get dropped ?

In order to achieve optimum quality in the prints, would you just crop the picture and then print them ?

Just a tad bit confused,

TIA,

P.

No expert here, however printing at 300 resolution is optimum for my software. The crop to maintain the same aspect ration should not affect the quality at all, in fact I believe that an aspect ratio crop of equating to the original frame size will completely fill the original frame, just reduce the print size. (at least that is how I see it occurr in PS elements 2).
