So I am thinking of getting a new camera with more zoom. My dad offered to buy my Canon PS a95 from me so I was look for a similar costing camera that had more zoom online and I found the Canon PS S2. It looks like a great camera for the price; 0" macro, 12x optical zoom, 5mp... I was about to order it when I noticed that the maximum aperture was f/2.7-f3.5 ... That is a ridiculously small range... what does this mean exactly? I know my camera can go to f/8.0, I think. Someone should help me out. haha... I'd be at a loss without you folks.

That means it's the maximum aperture across the zoom...so wide angle is f/2.7, at telephoto, f/3.5. The minimum aperture is probably something like f/22. |

F/2.7-3.5 is the widest the aperture will be - 2.7 at the wide end of the zoom and 3.5 at the tele end. I don't know for sure, but I expect it'll go to F/8 like your old camera. If you look at the lens on your A95 it'll probably say something similar like F/2.8. But others here have more experience to help you out.

Edit: beat me to it! But just to add, that I wouldn't expect F/22 on a point and shoot - usually just on SLRs.

Probably right, I haven't really used P&S very much so I wasn't sure about the minimum aperture. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. So, between the two of us...we mostly answered your question. |

Alright I understand, so the aperture on the PS S2 is as good as the A95 then? Cause if this is true I think the camera is pretty good and I am going to order it. haha. thanks for the help freinds...
