I have read quite a bit of late about a merge of Konica and Sony to produce an SLR camera. And yet I can find nothing about any new releases as yet. Can someone enlighten me as to what may be coming out and when.

Pentax & Samsung too.

Dslrs are the money makers for the camera companies. Once someone chooses a lense mount system they usually stay with it.

There appears to be no news since July. At least not that I could find in my quickie search.

With Sony having finished a factory to build CMOS chips and the Sony R1 to soon be coming/or out the new dSLR may have one with K/M lense mount.

I will never buy from Sony again because of their anti-consumer practices. I certainly hope they don't merge with Konica.

Not to mention all the digital cameras that at least four major camera manufacturers are having to recall because of cheaply made sensors (use of plastic instead of ceramic as a backing material for the chips) from Sony failing.

See this thread for a link to the story:

Wow...that is interesting. I am noticing on the F828 that I have now, I am starting to get extra noise and hot pixels. I wonder!!

the news was suposedly that Konica and Sony will each realease their own version of the same dSLR body.

Seeing as Sony provides the internals for the Nikon D200, best guess is that the same 10mp sensor will make it's way into Sony/KM camera, but with the added feature of KM's pantented body-integral Anti-Shake, and both will have KM's Maxxum lens mount. Who knows what glass Sony will have gottne to fit the mount, which may be a good thing for KM owners if suddenly they have a range of newly minted Zeiss glass ::drool:: at hand under the Sony brand.

Probably the info will officially come out at the big camera makers conference/expo in february (can't remember the name).

Sony doesn't currently look like it has the capital for a buyout of Koni ca, but we'll have to see about a merger, who knows.

If people didn't copy or download illegal copies I don't think any of this would be implemented.
