Well, I am planning a little trip over the MLK holiday weekend to the Pinetop area. Anyone interested in going up and getting a photo day together? :0)

Sounds like a neat idea... I've never been to Pinetop and would like the opportunity to photograph there. Keep us AZers (and anyone else that wants to go) updated.

I might be able to do that. We may go to Vegas that weekend but that does not look very promising right now.

I might be up for it, though it's too early for me to commit right now. What is in the Pinetop area, anyway? |

How timely and convenient.... I will be on my way from Tucson to the Four Corners Area that day. I will be returning from a shoot and may be tired and not feel like it but please keep me updated! |

Well I've only been once but it's a cute town. Mom & Pop type stuff.
It's also a ski resort town and I'm hoping there will be snow!!! I've never skiied before either but if you do it's sunrise ski parks. Hmmm.. guess I'll have to find out more about it to let you guys know! :0)
here found a website...
null
Show Low is the adjacent town (they pretty much blend in together!) And rates might be cheaper there for hotels... |

Greetings from Pinetop. It's no longer a mom and pop town, yes it is a ski resort town, pretty decent skiing! I would enjoy meeting Steve and the rest of you DPC kids. I've lived in Pinetop 21 years and never regretted my decision. There are many "places" to photograph, including the Apache Reservation, lots of petroglyphs, etc.... Brenda |

I won't be able to go. You might want to check out Greer while you are up there. It's a real tiny town not too far from Pine Top. Also if you like steak. There is a great steak resturant in Pine Top called Charley's.

Right now (9:09PMAZ Time) it's 29 degrees, not too bad. I have DSL through Frontiernet. Sunrise has been making snow since Thanksgiving, only the "bunny" slopes will be happen. I promise you we always get lots of snow in January and February and March. It has never failed. Brenda |

Not sure about the renaissance fest. I haven't been for a long while. It was always pretty busy and I'm not really one for big crowds :0) but make sure to keep us posted if you are planning on it! |

Hey- I keep meaning to post this stuff that Brenda (bell) wrote to me in an e-mail. I think it'd be best to meet up on Sunday. Let me know what you all think. I vote for Lyman Lake (although I haven't looked at the map just yet!) :0) Any other ideas???
~Laura
I have been thinking of places to go, there are LOTS of petroglyphs at Witch Wells Canyon, this place is east of St Johns on the way to Zuni, NM. That does make it a distance from here...
There's also Lyman Lake, south of Saint Johns, it also has petroyglyps and a cool tree. It also has a "dig" going on if you're into that sort of thing. There's the beginning of the "rim" here in Lakesdie, I haven't been there for many years, I would like to go there and check it out again...
And, of course, there's the res, it has a few interesting spots, the Idians have gotten a little fussy about people going there and taking pics of there stuff.

Ok guys this is just a bump to see who's going. I'm leaving tomorrow and we could meet somewhere in town to figure out where we'd like to go. Brenda can check this thread on saturday or so. If you PM me in time I'll send you my phone # up there if you don't hear from me PM Brenda (bell).
Hmm ok I guess that's it. I'll bump in the morning again before I go :0) |

I would really like to go to this, but I'm already going to Barrett-Jackson this week and my wife only lets me do one of these type of activities per week. Hope you all have a good time and let me know if there's ever another AZ GTG! |
