All season I've been taking photos of my local hockey team. They've got a 'pro' photographer there who takes some great shots but I just turn up with my compact and take snapshots from where I sit. These photos tend to have a lot of character because I can shoot the players taking a breath inbetween plays or chatting with the ref before a face off or just pausing for a second.
Some of the other fans there have liked the shots which I've posted on the internet but tomorrow night is our Christmas do so I've spent the last few days making sure that these pictures are everything that they can be.
I've been going through them all, selecting the ones I'm really happy with, dodging and burning in a subtle way to make sure that the player is the centre of attention, and tonight I've been printing them off so that I can get them signed tomorrow night.

I've got to say that I've not felt this good in ages. My prints are coming out much better than I'd ever expected and one (which had been my favourite shot for a while) is absolutely perfect.

I just wanted to share with you all how happy printing for the first time ever has made me and also to thank all of you who have posted your tips here and have helped me along this course. Thank you all.

Right now I am unbelievebly happy and just can not wait to get these photos signed and in frames. Thanks a million people of DPC.

You kidding me, I didn't have a clue what dodge and burn were before coming here, I thought it was something you did in cars with cops chasing you :)
Anyway, I managed to make £30 tonight from the sale of said prints, although I'm not allowed to sell photographs because the hockey club where I shoot owns the rights to their logo being used, I am allowed to sell autographs which are 'beautifully presented'.

It was really funny since one person saw a print of a player she likes, I walked up to him, asked him to sign my photo, then walked back and sold it for a tenner.
I'm going to be ebaying the rest soon, there's one really nice shot of a cracking defender which the wife has refused for me to sell since he's her favourite player. I had him sign my name on that print.
