Wow, I didn't think my first thread was controversial enough to lock. My second thread in the Rant forum was quite harmless. What's going on? Is SC having a "Prank on Slippy" day?
Maybe something totally horrible was posted to the second thread I made, so it had to be hidden/deleted?
What's going on?

Its a conspiracy against you. No doubt someone will lock this thread as well. Maybe its because you met me and SC is still riding their high horse and we couldn't get that shot at the zoo.

I'm more wondering about the thread I made in the Rant forum. It was totally harmless, yet was deleted. I think that's a magnitude more serious than locking a thread. |

If I re-do my deleted Rant thread, I wonder if it will be deleted again. Surely there can't be some rule it was breaking? It would be nice to be notified so I don't continue to make such heinous errors continually. |

It would be cool if you could find out for me, I'm just curious. PM me if it's too horrible for the general public.

It's a matter of pre-emptionary action. SC have learned that, in every case, first you strike. then (inevitably) you slip. so they have taken to deleting your strikes before the slip can occur. Saves a lot of wear-and-tear on the body DPC :-)

I saw one of yours that was locked, and there's an explaination given. Maybe instead of creating a new thread for old news, you could bump the old thread. I have not found anything else of yours locked or hidden lately. |

Ok, everyone but slippy change threads.....Now!
If slippy checks into another thread, hide somewhere so he doesn't see you. |

Oh my, then it is a conspiracy! I even viewed my now deleted thread 3 minutes after posting it (it scrolled down and had the 3min marker on the home page), so it was there. But then I cruised away for a while. I suppose Manic deleted it.
I'm left wondering if I'm on some sort of delete-list, and if I ever post anything amusing to me or others, which an SC member doesn't find amusing, my posts will simply be deleted without explanation.
I think there are more paying members at DPC who enjoy my posts than there are SC members combined. On the monetary side, I've added a few bucks to the DPC coffers since I signed up in the form of my membership plus the four memberships I bought for other people. I think I at least deserve an explanation as to why my other Rant thread was deleted. Isn't that worth my $125 US dollars? |

If that was the case, you'd have far fewer posts. :P |

I'm guessing it had something to do with the content of your post. Rant or no rant, flipping a finger and mooning the viewers/SC out of spite is going to result in a short-lived thread.

Aha, so you saw my offensive post.
So is the official explanation? I should no longer use my "bird.jpg", even when it's used in the context between two others?
It's obvious to me, in that context, as well as the preceding text, to be humorous.
And I should no longer post this photo, which was taken by doctornick and the Toronto Zoo GTG?

Edit... Ursula deleted the "two other" images I was referring to, they are not offensive in any way I can imaginge, so I'm re-adding them to semi-preserve the meaning of this post... They were to the left & right of the unacceptable "bird.jpg", so as to finish off the pictorial thought with a happy razz... here they are:

I see this all the time, but it's very hard to KNOW there is an old thread when there is no search function. I've done this a couple of times. |

There is a search function and you should know when you're the one who created the original thread! |

So, Ursula, judging by your edit of my previous post, should I delete "bird.jpg" from the Slipmoticons directory of my portfolio?
Though it has been used in the past with no problems, is it now judged by the SC as image-non-grata? Too offensive for DPC in any context?

I said it was my guess. You certainly didn't need to repeat the problem post to ask the question. Doctornick's photo is funny, but not when used in a "$*%& you!" context. Your bird, on the other hand (no pun intended), is a gesture INTENDED to offend.
4.1 Generally, you must use the DPChallenge.com Service in a manner that demonstrates good taste and respect for the rights of DPChallenge.com and third parties.
4.2 You will not use the DPChallenge.com Service to post content... that... (ix) is generally offensive or in bad taste. |

Holy cow.
I understand "F U SC" is bad...I don't understand why "I was pissed the other day" is bad. I think slip's emote is similar to a photo we posted in the good evening thread and CJ's read that and didn't delete it....
Jeesh.. Slow day.

My personal thought on this is that flipping the bird is no way to communicate at any time, and it would be nice if you wouldn't use it. As you know, I used it myself once before, it is satisfying for the person who does it, but it is no way to communicate.
I think you were using the image at this time to stir up controversy. I think that it was OK for me to remove it because of that.

So Shannon says my bird.jpg is illegal on DPC under 4.2 ix, and Ursula says she can use it, but I can't.
So should I use good taste and respect for the rights of DPChallenge.com and third parties by deleting it?

Pardon me, but when/where did I say I can use it and you can't?
